On an average day Anderson Park in Invercargill is majestic; today the park was alive with music and children's glee.
The Anderson House Trust organised a Family Fair, with food stalls, face painting, rock painting and bouncy castles for the public to enjoy. The Anderson House Trust was established in 2019, to protect and preserve Anderson House and its ground for the enjoyment of the public. The Trust works in collaboration with Invercargill City Council.
In 1910, Sir Robert Anderson bought the 300-acre block on the outskirts of Invercargill and in 1925 the homestead was built. In 1932, his daughter Kathleen was married in the whare behind the homestead. After his death in 1942 and his wife's death in 1951, the homestead and grounds were gifted to Invercargill for use as a public park.
