I had the pleasure of meeting Nic at TEDxInvercargill. Her speech moved me to tears.
Nic has been dealt tough hands.
Three months after Kenzie’s diagnosis, Nic was diagnosed with breast cancer. Nic’s treatment involved undergoing a double mastectomy and reconstruction, having her ovaries removed, six series of chemotherapy and taking cancer-fighting drugs for years. Nic is now cancer free.
At the age of 46, Nic was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Parkinson’s is a progressive, nuerodegenerative disease. It is believed 1% of people over the age of 60 have Parkinson’s.
Nic’s resilience, grace and beauty are an inspiration. 💙
