New Zealand Sea Lion Conservation Status

The New Zealand sea lion are classified as "Nationally Vulnerable" on the Department of Conservation website and are classified as "Endangered" on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

I am proposing restricting vehicle access on Surat Bay and Cannibal Bay in the Otago Region. Cannibal Bay is 31.0 km from Balcutha, where beloved sea lion Matariki and her one-month-old pup were killed in a hit-and-run in February 2020.
