New Zealand Sea Lions

Sadly, New Zealand sea lions are still classified endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species and they still require the public’s help! Please sign our petition on Change.org: https://www.change.org/ProtectNewZealandSeaLion proposing the Clutha District Council restrict recreational vehicles and BMX bikes on two beaches in the Catlins Coast Inc. 

According to Massey University Professor and Sea Lion Specialist B. Louise Chilvers “Banning cars where sea lions are present should be a key objective in successfully managing the species, monitoring sites for recolonisation and hopefully leading to a new breeding colony of NZ sea lions on the South Island of NZ.”
