Dear H&M,
..
Sincerely,
Sian Mair
H&M is one of Bangladesh’s biggest buyers. Please join me in asking H&M how they intend to support factory workers in Bangladesh.
Remake, Worker Rights Consortium and Clean Clothes Campaign are calling for an Emergency COVID-19 Fund to be set up for factory workers.
Most Bangladeshi factory workers make barely enough to survive and live hand to mouth. The average wage for a factory worker in Bangladesh is $95 per month. Since the outbreak of coronavirus, Bangladeshi factories have seen $138 million of orders canceled or postponed as sales constrict within the fashion industry. Where does that leave the workers? Not privileged enough to be sitting on their couches, for one.
