Protect Marine Species

According to the New Zealand Sea Lion Trust, our indigenous, magnificent New Zealand sea lions are returning to mainland New Zealand. New Zealand Geographic posed a question: Can we make room for them?

We must! I believe an important course of action is to ban vehicles on beaches sea lions are known to inhabit, such as Surat Bay and Cannibal Bay in The Catlins Coast Inc.
Yesterday I was privileged enough to witness sea lions in their natural habitat. Vehicles had been up and down Surat Bay and Cannibal Bay and a sea lion was in obvious distress.
These coasts are their HOME. We must respect marine species and share their spaces with them.
