Protecting Oreti Beach's Toheroa

Vehicles increase mortality in young toheroa - New Zealand’s “national shellfish” by at least 23%.
Environment Southland have suggested vehicle restrictions on Oreti Beach. Environment Southland chairman Nicol Horrell stated "We have developed four separate options for vehicle restrictions on the beach, with each option providing a 'safe zone' for people and young toheroa, free from vehicles."
1) A vehicle exclusion zone at the southern end of Oreti Beach, starting 500 metres south of the Dunns Rd entrance.
2) A vehicle exclusion zone for all of the southern end of the beach.
3) A permitted vehicle zone approximately 500 metres south and 1 km north of the Dunns Rd entrance.
4) Restrict all vehicle access to the beach.
On average 250 vehicles access Oreti Beach daily and during peak times up to 1600 vehicles.
I am in favor of restricting vehicles on Oreti Beach and New Zealand's beaches inhabited by wildlife. I believe restricting vehicles access will reduce the rubbish pollution.
