In 2016, Dick and Jillian Jardine gifted their former home and its four-hectare lakefront site to the University of Otago for use as a research retreat. Their generosity did not end there.
In 2020, the Jardine's gifted 900 hectares near Queenstown to the QEII National Trust to ensure the significant landscape and biodiversity on the property is protected on behalf of all New Zealanders. Dick Jardine stated “This land has been in the family for nearly a century and we have endeavoured to improve and enhance it over this time. Having QEII as the caretaker of this property gives us the comfort and assurance to proudly pass over this gift for all New Zealand to enjoy and appreciate.”
In 2022, the property will officially change hands to coincide with the 100-year anniversary of the Jardine family's ownership of the farm.
