Somewhat Green / Part Three

Q: What is your criteria when selecting products to stock?

A: (Tracey) I have four criteria that I look for in selecting products, they must at least be one of the following: New Zealand made/designed, ethical, eco and quality. I look for NZ Made products, if not NZ made, that a NZ company has designed the products or is based in NZ. I ask the suppliers if they know the people that make the products. Occasionally I am surprised, suppliers that I thought were eco and ethical weren’t and some that I thought aren’t good, are very eco and ethical. I choose suppliers that I see are conscious about making the planet better and sometimes you can’t see it in their products, but it is in their packaging, in the way they make things, their mission statement or what they say on their website. I also want to stock quality things that last a long time and are made of good quality materials.

(Claudia) To make Latin American products accessible and affordable at Kankis.nz. I stock products from Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Argentina, Uruguay, Venezuela and Mexico. I have frozen food, flour, stock, snacks, herbs, tea and coffee.
