Why Should We Care That The Amazon Rainforest Is Ablaze?

1) Scientists regard the Amazon Rainforest the 'Earth's Lungs' as it produces 20% of Earth's oxygen.
2) The Amazon Rainforest is considered vital in slowing the onset of Global Warming, as it is home to countless species of Flora and Fauna, of which help to regulate climate.
Flora refilter the World's harmful carbon dioxide output. We are producing hazardous amounts of CO2 by burning fossil fuels, coal and oil. Plants absorb CO2 and produce oxygen and carbon - for plant growth.
3) Tropical forests and woodlands produce masses of water. Plants release water into the atmosphere and by rivers into our oceans regulating the climate.
4) The Amazon is home to approximately 2.5 million insects, tens of thousands of plants and 2,000 birds and mammals.
5) Medicinal purposes. Indigenous People have long utilized plants in the Amazon for medicinal purposes.

Since last year the percentage of Amazon fires have increased by 80%. NASA has reported seeing smoke from Space. According to the Institute for Space Research the equivalent of 1 and half soccer fields are destroyed every minute of every day and the leading cause is deforestation - as deforestation reduces rainfall.
