Conservation Week/Te Wiki Tiaki Ao Tūroa

Happy Conservation Week! The Department of Conservation host Conservation Week annually from the 15th - 23rd of August. It's a time to "Slow down to embrace what's always been there; look, listen, breathe and feel."
Check out their website for activities and events: https://www.doc.govt.nz/news/events/conservation-week/.

To me, conservation means: embracing, enjoying, learning from, respecting and protecting Mother Earth/Papatūānuku.
To quote the late Jeanette Fitzsimons, who was the former Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand co-leader and founder of Pakaraka Permaculture: "We are in a transition to a younger generation, with new energy and faces, but the same values and commitment. The green movement is growing stronger worldwide. Kia kaha, you are the hope of the future."
