Furiendly Sea Lions

While New Zealand sea lions/pakake are most commonly found on Otago and Southland beaches, occasionally they like to visit St Clair Salt Water Pool (January 2015), the pub at Kaka Point (September 2019), Chisholm Links Golf course (January 2021), or a football game (July 2021). As my friend Amanda Nally (Write Answers) aptly said “The struggle for inclusivity in sport is real!”

New Zealand sea lions are curious and exhibit behaviour similar to dogs. If you encounter a sea lion, please give them their space, keep your dogs on a leash (for their own protection) and enjoy being in the presence of the rarest seal in the world.
