Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month in the US! According to Mental Health America “Mental health shouldn’t be a luxury.”

Did you know in New Zealand:

- Mental illnesses effect people between 15 to 24 the most?

- Of New Zealand’s adult population, nine percent have high or very high levels of mental distress.

- Between the 30th of June 2019 to 2020, 654 people died by suicide.

Whether you are suffering with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), schizophrenia, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), please remember:

- To seek help from your doctor, family, friends or the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand.

- To take care of yourself.

- Your illness does not define you.

- You are not less than or “damaged goods."
