The Lost Gypsy

Recently I went to The Lost Gypsy in Papatowai and had the pleasure of meeting the Manager Sandra Van Der Sommen and Founder Blair Somerville. Blair and Sandra are Artists, as well as fellow New Zealand sea lion lovers. Blair created his first automata twenty years ago and has since created countless automata from recycled materials. 

The Lost Gypsy is a treasure trove, akin to Steampunk HQ workshop in Oamaru. Set aside a couple of hours to view barbie riding an aluminium whale, engage with the automata, play a game of player-less heads foosball, enter the theatre for $8, relax with a coffee and purchase a locally crafted treasure.
